My musical philosophy

My musical upbringing was strictly classical. Then I went into the forces to do my National Service, and was introduced to jazz and swing. Then along came the 60s and the Beatles and all that. What all this taught me was that there's no sense in trying to compartmentalise music - there's good music and bad music - it's as simple as that. So I've no problem in saying that I like Clementi and the Carpenters, Elgar and the ELO, Stravinsky and Sinatra, and so on and so on. If it's musical and good it gets my vote. I've spent most of this last weekend listening to Queen - sheer bliss!
